Biography

"My art has become such a part of my life that there is no longer a distiction between the beginning and the end of the creative process. Seeing shape and noticing value and color subtleties is constant for me.  I believe this awareness feeds the creativity from which I draw spiritually and mentally in order to relay the details of beauty onto the paper and hopefully to the viewer."

I have been painting in watercolor for 21 years.  My watercolors are done in the traditional way keeping the white of the paper as my whites, although I will use white to save a painting if necessary.  I use transparent staining paints on arches paper.  I had some influence early in my career from Margaret Martin and Skip Lawrence, from whom I took workshops, but am mostly self-taught.  I work out of a studio in my home where I also have a gallery space that is open to the public.  I have been teaching watercolor in Lockport for 16 years.

My work can be seen at the Market Street Art Center, Lockport, N.Y. where I have a permanent rotating exhibit.  I am also represented by Kathi Eagan Fine Art in Clarence, N.Y.   My work has been featured in Garlock's restaurant for 15 years.  I have reproductions of my work for sale in local shops.  My paintings are in collections around the country, also Europe and Japan.
